Learning Ground
A six month place-based ‘residency’ - exploring eco-social creative and embodied practices for educators, therapists, sustainability consultants, leadership coaches and change makers.
In response to converging ecological and mental health crises, this work creates a ‘learning ground’ - informed by Nature’s principles, living systems, cyclical rhythms and embodied ways of knowing - while being actively rooted in the present, the local environment and the more-than-human world.
Interdisciplinary art based and eco social practices offer novel approaches of integrating ecopsychology, socially engaged art and community-based therapeutic practices. Drawing on Joseph Beuys’ concept of ‘social sculpture,’ Nora Bateson’s theory of ‘warm data’ and Bill Plotkin’s nature-based developmental model of the ‘8 Shields’, with the intention to facilitate a space for emotional, ecological and collective healing.
June -September 2023, Somerset, UK.
‘The Land Speaking Through Us’ - collection of writings, poems and images from the residents.
