Rise Together

Rise Together is a participatory arts project that brings diverse groups of men into shared presence through the ancient practice of sourdough bread-making.

Over the course of a slow day, participants move through the rhythms of mixing, kneading, waiting, shaping, and baking while engaging in facilitated dialogue about masculinity, connection and community.

In a culture that demands speed and productivity from men, Rise Together creates a radical pause. This isn't a workshop or therapy – it's a social art intervention that uses the slow sourdough process as a container for something rarely offered: unhurried time for men to be together without agenda.

The project uses the living culture of sourdough as both practical activity and metaphor - exploring patience, transformation, care and the interdependence of simple ingredients. As hands work with dough and the bread slowly rises, conversations deepen beyond the everyday, creating space for men to share experiences often left unspoken.

‘Rise Together’ is looking for funding & location partners for 2026 events.
